Caller ID not set, outbound calls show as unknown

Outbound calls connect but the recipient's phone shows 'Unknown' or a generic number.

Symptoms

  • Contact rate drops suddenly
  • Called parties complain they can't see who's calling
  • Asterisk outbound SIP trace shows no P-Asserted-Identity header

Common causes

  • Campaign's `custom_cid` setting not configured
  • CID group empty or misconfigured
  • Carrier strips CID due to attestation level (STIR/SHAKEN A vs C)
  • SIP trunk doesn't allow self-asserted CID

How to fix it

    Set campaign's outbound_cid field to a valid provisioned DID

    Enable use_custom_cid = Y for CID rotation
  3. 3
    Check vicidial_campaign_cid_areacodes for the campaign
  4. 4
    Work with carrier to ensure A-level STIR attestation on owned DIDs
